  • Köpmannebro lock

    Mellerud, Dalsland Canal

    Köpmannebro lock station

    The lock at Köpmannebro is the first in the Dalsland Canal. It leads from Lake Vänern to Lake Svanefjorden and on to Östervallsskog in Värmland. Here you will also find one of Dalsland Canal's lock cafés.

  • Upperud lock

    Upperud lock station

    In Upperud you lock from Lake Spången into Lake Upperudshöljen. There are two locks, one lower and one upper. Between the two locks is the canal office in the old chamberlain's house.

  • Håverud lock

    Håverud, Dalsland Canal

    Håverud lock station

    In Håverud, road, rail and the famous aqueduct meet in the same place, a unique combination in Europe. Many boats pass through here during the summer, which means that there can sometimes be slightly longer waiting times.

  • Buterud lock

    Buterud lock station

    Buterud lock is the 8th lock in the Dalsland Canal, between lakes Åklång and Råvarp. It is located right on the border between Mellerud and Bengtsfors municipalities.

  • Mustadfors lock

    Dals Långed, Dalsland Canal

    Mustadfors lock station

    Mustadfors lock station is located in the lake Långbrohöljen, also called Katrineholmshöljen, in the village of Dals Långed. It is the 9th lock in the Dalsland Canal.

    Långed lock station

    Långed's locks take boats through the height difference in the area, and just like in Håverud, there can sometimes be slightly longer waiting times during the high season.

    Långbron lock station

    Långbron lock with a lock chamber leads from lake Långbrohöljen to Laxsjön. It is lock no. 15 in the Dalsland Canal. Here you will find one of three lock cafés along the Dalsland Canal.

    Billingsfors lock station

    Billingsfors lock station leads from Lake Laxsjön to Bengtsbrohöljen. These are locks 16 and 17 in the Dalsland Canal.

    18th locks

    The 18th lock is located just north of Billingsfors and is one of the most photographed places on the canal, thanks to the little red cottage with its charming waterside garden.

    19th and 20th locks

    Here, the locks are a short distance apart and on the way from one to the other you can hear the roar of Höljerudsforsen, a popular fly fishing area.

    Bengtsfors lock station

    Bengtsfors lock station leads from Lake Bengtsbrohöljen into Lake Lelången. They are locks 21 and 22 in the Dalsland Canal.

    Lennartsfors lock station

    The locks are embedded in the rock, and after the locks there is a mountain canal with high edges. With its impressive lock staircase and pleasant lock café, Lennarsfors lock is a very pleasant stop.

    Töcksfors lock station

    Töcksfors canal is 112 meters above sea level and is thus Sweden's highest canal with a connection to the sea.

    Gustavsfors leads from Lake Lelången into Lake Västra Silen. It is lock no. 23 in the Dalsland Canal.

    Krokfors lock station

    At Krokfors lock, boats pass between two different water levels before continuing under a fixed bridge to the east.

    Snäcke lock station

    Snäcke lock station, which actually belongs to Snäcke Canal, leads from Lake Östebosjön into Lake Ånimmen.

  • Current lock

    Strömmen, Dalsland Canal

    Strömmen lock station

    Strömmens lock is located in Snäcke canal and is the only lock in Åmål municipality. Boats pass through here between lakes Ånimmen and Ärr.
