Along the Dalsland Canal, you will find our lock keeper's cottages located by the water, in environments that invite both tranquility and small everyday adventures. Here you will find a safe and beautiful starting point for days filled with whatever you long for. How about a morning dip, lovely walks, canoeing, fishing trips, or just a cup of freshly brewed coffee in peace and quiet?
Where modern comfort meets historical presence
All our lock keeper's cottages are in fantastic locations right by the water and are part of 150 years of proud Swedish industrial history. Most have been recently renovated, but have retained their original charm, with traces of all the lock keepers who have lived here over the years.
Find your cottage by the canal
The cottages can accommodate between two and eight people and are fully equipped for self-catering, perfect for couples, families, and friends. Please bring your own bed linen, towels, and consumables, as these are not included in the cottage.
Live with your best friend
Your four-legged friend is also welcome to join you. It's not just people who appreciate the tranquility of the canal, or who like to keep an extra eye on the boat guests. Most of our cottages welcome pets, and you can see whether this is allowed in the information for each cottage.
Enjoy hiking in the forest
Hiking is a fantastic way to experience nature in the area around the Dalsland Canal. Here you will find everything from hills with sweeping views to trails that take you out to the unique landscape of the Vänern archipelago. You can choose shorter trips or follow multi-day trails in the footsteps of former pilgrims.
Fishing along the canal
Whether you're fishing for peace and quiet or chasing the next truly memorable catch. Choose one of the many lakes and fisheries management areas and find your rhythm: alone with the sounds of nature for company, or with someone to share the joy.
