Winter housing along the canal
Several of our lock keeper’s cottages are winterized and can also be booked between December 1 and March 15. Please contact Iia Abenius, iia.abenius@dalsland.com, who is in charge on site.
Where modern comfort meets historical presence
All of our lockkeeper’s cottages are beautifully situated right on the water and are part of 150 years of proud Swedish industrial history. Most have been recently renovated while retaining their original charm. They also bear traces of all the lockkeepers who have lived here by the water over the years.
Find your cottage by the canal
The cabins accommodate between two and eight people and are fully equipped for self-catering, making them perfect for couples, families, and groups of friends. Please note that bed linens, towels, and toiletries are not included in the reservation. You’ll need to bring these items yourself.
Live with your best friend
Your four-legged friend is welcome here, too, since it’s not just people who appreciate the peace and quiet by the canal or who like to keep an extra eye on the boaters. Most of our cottages welcome pets, and you can see whether pets are allowed in the details for each cottage.
Enjoy hiking in the forest
Hiking is a fantastic way to experience nature in the area around the Dalsland Canal. Here you will find everything from hills with sweeping views to trails that take you out to the unique landscape of the Vänern archipelago. You can choose shorter trips or follow multi-day trails in the footsteps of former pilgrims.
Fishing along the canal
Whether you fish for the peace and quiet or are chasing your next truly memorable catch, there’s a lake or fishing area here that’s right for you. Here, you’ll find your own rhythm: alone, with the sounds of nature as your only company, or together with someone to share the joy with.
