Experience nature

The Dalsland Canal is a gem for anyone who loves nature and outdoor life. Regardless of the season, unforgettable nature experiences await here.

Paddling in Dalsland Nordmarken

In the borderland between Dalsland, southern Värmland and Norway's eastern border lies the Dalsland Nordmarken lake system. Here, the forests are wild and beautiful, the water often drinkable and the people few in number.

Don't have your own canoe?

The lake system adjacent to the Dalsland Canal has long been one of the most popular canoeing areas in Europe. There are many canoe rental companies that can also provide tour suggestions and tips.

Fishing along the Dalsland Canal

Whether you're fishing for peace and quiet or chasing the next truly memorable catch. Choose one of the many lakes and fisheries management areas and find your rhythm: alone with the sounds of nature for company, or with someone to share the joy.

Hiking

The more than 100-kilometer Pilgrimage Trail winds from the Dalbos plain up through the Dalsland wilderness, past villages, churches and waterways that have carried people for centuries.

In the Middle Ages, pilgrims walked here on their way to Nidaros. Many came by boat from Västergötland to Sunnanå, before continuing north via Edsleskog. Today, the trail is a way to experience the same route at your own pace, in the middle of a nature that offers both tranquility and history.
